I have been hanging out in Oak Grove Cemetery a lot lately. We buried my parents' ashes there last month, on my grandmother's grave. I've been back to photograph a couple of times.
Since one of my research goals is to thoroughly annotate my great great grandfather, John Jay Johns', journal, the cemetery is a good reference to who was living in St. Charles at the time.
When I walk around in Oak Grove, I recognize names everywhere. Sometimes it seems like I am related to everyone there, however distantly. It's not true, of course, but I see names everywhere I recognize. I suspect that the names I recognize were mostly Presbyterians.

Brain wave
I had a brainwave this week -- find Gauss descendants on Facebook. Of course, I don't think everyone does Facebook, or even computers, but some people do. It has been a resounding success. Not only have I found some people, but they have been really interested! I started a group on Facebook, Gauss' Children. I have been posting there, but it occurred to me that I would like to write somewhat longer pieces on individual descendants, in a more permanent form, so I decided to revive this blog, which has been languishing. Hopefully, I will be able to post an article and still keep up with everything else!
On another note, we acquired a Boston terrier puppy about a month ago. The vet says his nose is too long for a BT, so he might have a bit of something else. To my mind, it's all to the good -- he can breathe. He is absolutely manic. Sometimes I wonder if this has been a good idea -- I may be more of a cat person than even I thought -- but he sure is cute. We named him Dodger, as one of our cats is Oliver.

Too many ideas
I am finding myself plagued by my usual condition -- more ideas than time or energy. My web site has gotten huge. Unfortunately, I haven't done any scanning or transcribing in...well I think it is up to years. There is just so much supporting data. And, I am, of course, distracted by my geekiness -- more ideas. At the moment, I am building forms for death certificates and grave markers. In the end, it saves time; at least I don't have too many of either -- yet. And it will be a great help if anyone decides to help me.

New Skin
I have been working on a new skin for my site -- I have gotten it set up for the wiki -- now on to the TNG (The Next Generation) genealogy part.
